Week 4 Discussion Question

What was Annemarie's test of bravery when the German soldiers came to Uncle Henrik's house? Use specific examples from the book to support your thinking. We then learn that the funeral was meant to gather those who were trying to escape Denmark and go to Sweden. Peter is helping to do this by getting the families ready for their journey. Annemarie thinks to herself, "It was as if he had moved beyond his own youth and had taken his place in the world of adult." What does she mean by this? How has being part of the Resistence changed Peter?

Make sure to answer the question with a RAD response and use details from the text to support your answer. Please check your grammar, spelling, capitalization, and conventions before submitting your response. It should be done in your blogging doc first so you can go back and make corrections.

Welcome to Our Blog!

This post just welcomes you to our blog. We are so excited to get started and read this book.

"As the German troops begin their campaign to "relocate" all the Jews of Denmark, Annemarie Johansen's family takes in Annemarie's best friend, Ellen Rosen, and conceals her as a part of the family.

Through the eyes of ten year old Annemarie, we watch as the Danish Resistance smuggles almost the entire Jewish population of Denmark, nearly seven thousand people, across the sea to Sweden. The heroism of an entire nation reminds us that there was pride and human decency in the world even during a time of terror and war." - Amazon.com
